HEROES AND GENERALS

Alpha Testing!

Greetings SPEARHEAD DIVISION!

We expect to invite you to a huge Play Session Saturday the 28th of January at 19.00 UTC and you'll receive your Clan-key the day before.

However, we still hold the right to cancel and postpone that session if something unforseen shows !

Please read the following and spread it to your fellow clan members:

The purpose of inviting you as Alpha-players is that we believe you're able to give us some very valuable feedback and at the same time understand the technical issues and hiccups we might have at this very early time in the development process.

The performance, graphics, physics and sound is still not optimized and far from final (as an example: some maps are currently not more than grey boxes). Furthermore there will be periods of time, where the servers are unavailable due to maintenance or crashes and you should also expect the servers from time to time to be more laggy than others. But please report any crash- or stability-bugs you may encounter.

If you choose to enter as an Alpha-player, we would prefer that you avoid posting screenshots and videos of Heroes & Generals in public. Outsiders might not possess the experience and insight you have and may not be able to see through the rough edges.

When you log in to the game you'll be met by a "Test of the Day Message" telling you the current test-focus. We strongly encourage you to only give us feedback and report in bugs concerning the current test-focus, but if you can't resist the urge to report in other bugs, or give us feedback on ther topics, feel free to do so.

We hope that you regularly will be able to join our weekly play sessions. Throughout the development process, we really need you to play this game a lot, and we also need to play this game a lot with you. We've seen that many new Alpha-players join one time, try the game and then leave and don't come back. We're really dependent of your opinion and continuous feedback, as well as seeing how the game plays out with other players than ourselves.

It would really help us a lot if you could reply to this mail with an estimate of how many of your clan-members you expect will show at the play session Saturday!

See you on the battlefield!
The Heroes & Generals Team

Canna's Creations Special - STZ-5 Soviet tractor

Medium Tractor STZ-5
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In September of 1942, the »Stalingrad Tractor Zavod« became one of the famous scenes of bitter street fighting for nearly half a year.
Until then, it had produced, among others, almost 10,000 STZ-5 artillery tractors, the final ones being accomplished while the enemy was literally at the gates. Between the production shifts the workers were sent to the nearby front.
The STZ-5, one of the few ized military tractors of the Red Army, proved a complete success, the only shortcoming being the 12-inch narrow tracks not suitable for snowy and muddy terrain.
As the Wehrmacht captured plenty of them it comes at no surprise that the German »Raupenschlepper Ost« showed a significant similarity in design.

Most prominent of these are the Waffen SS units, which were causing crashes. They will be added back in a "Waffen SS" DLC package later on along with other content. Other things that could not be included right now will be either reintroduced in the DLC, or in a patch. The original single-player campaign was removed since it proved hard to port to ARMA2. It has been replaced by several MP missions, most notably "D-Day" and "D+1".

- Known issues -
Most of the bugs (80-90%) in this release are graphical bugs and RPT errors. We are aware of many of these bugs, and do intend to fix them in the next release. However if you do find any, or just want to give us some feedback, please visit our forums. Each player must still work as a team as each member will get 3 points for winning, 1 point for draw, 0 points for loss added to their "Kill" points score.

Go to the "Event" and you should be signed , if not just click "Join Event".
Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad: Vehicles

Beyond this we have added a whole new level of functionality and interaction to the tanks. The first thing that we’ve done is what we call a virtual interior. The player can actually look around in the interior and very easily interact with the interior. Want to look out of a view slit, just look at the slit and press a button. Want to stick your head out of the hatch, look and press a button. It is all very streamlined and allows the player to do a lot of things but very simply. We’re actual giving players very near to a tank simulation’s level of functionality, but streamlined so it is easy to use and accessible. Speaking of view, one of the things we discovered after we shipped the original Red Orchestra was that while the view inside a tank is somewhat limited, there are a LOT of view ports, view slits, and periscopes that the tank crew had at their disposal to get a better view of what is happening outside of the tank. So for ROHOS we have added the ability to very easily interact with any of these and get a better view of the situation.

Another area which we’ve greatly expanded on is the damage system. The original RO had a generalized damage system with just a few key damageable components. For ROHOS we’ve expanded this to include a very broad range of damageable components with accompanying gameplay effects. Things such as damaging optics, damaging the engine and transmission, damaging the turret rotation mechanism, hitting the fuel tank, drive sprocket, treads and more are now included. And now shots that penetrate the tank armor can hit the crewmembers inside.

Canna edit @{ Trailer and signs of tank http://www.gametrailers.com/video/pax-10-red-orchestra/703872

More at RO:HOS Vehicals
